Frankfurt an der Oder / Slubice - Leknika

120 km

20 June 2023

I love steak tartare, which is very popular in Poland.  Nearly every restaurant does it.  Usually it is fine.  Occasionally it can cause problems.  Last night’s offering at Slubice was fine on eating, but in the course of the night it caused problems with my stomach. And lower down.  It would be advisable on today’s ride to keep upwind of me.

For most of the morning I kept on the German side of the Oder, but the afternoon saw me in Polish territory where the route was not so good, and took me on some very rural, rough and sandy tracks.  It ended up being a long and slow day, mostly because of the poor surfaces on the Polish side.  I should have remained on the German side.

Leknika isn’t a big place, and the b&b / hotel was fine accommodation wise, but the food was only just a little more than a doner kebab, lots of it and much too much for me to eat.   Breakfast in the morning was probably the most minimal breakfast I’ve been offered.  Mind you, I wasn’t much in to food today after my encounter with the Polish steak tartare.

Accommodation:  Night of 20th June - Zajazd Park Leknika
